I believe that there has to be a "cooling off period" - at least here in the UK - after making a purchase at which point you are entitled by law to return the product. Normally that period is 7-14 days but individual stores may be even more lenient than that.
Whether it is a mistake or not, I'm not sure that Apple can refuse a refund if it is a case of genuine mistake. And didn't Steve Jobs have that button he could press to remotely delete an app from someone's device anyway?

Furthermore, I have issues with the comments about marketshare increase alone as a primary contributor to getting Macs back into schools. The reason I have a problem with that is that school boards and school superintendants are typically in the back pocket of the IT staffs of the district, and so many of those staffs out there are all MS-heads. Until you can replace those folks (not convert, not convince, but replace) you're hardly likely to see much penetration into the educational market.
I'm the techie guy at an elementary school and 99.9% of all the computers in the district (not just my school, the entire district) are Macs. The last director of technology was really pro-Mac, along w/ a lot of the other schools' techies, which was a good thing. However, the kindergarten teacher @ my school has some peecees which she got on a grant to run some Windows only software (but didn't get them set-up since, according to the last director of technology, didn't fit into the district's technology plans). Also, each techie is getting a MacBook w/ dual boot because we're going to a new program that rates how well the kids to in reading & math where you can see the progress online, but the only way you can upload the results is on Windows. Boo!!! :mad: That's one reason why Macs still have low marketshare: no programs. It's a chicken & the egg problem. Mac marketshare won't go significantly up until more software is ported, but not very much software will be ported until mac marketshare is up.
One problem with increased market share is that there will be more attacks on them. One of the Mac's sources of security is security through obscurity. So, why go after an OS that only has 5% marketshare while another OS has 90%? I don't know whether Windows or Macs are more secure in terms of actual bugs and security holes, but we probably would if Windows & Macs get equal marketshare.
There are two main reasons that I know of to hack into computers, write viruses, or something: (1) to gain entry to a computer to get files, damage the company's infrastructure or (2) to be a jackass. The first one is probably for personal gain and Macs may be a target, the second to make yourself feel good at other people's expense and would probably be Windows-based to inflict the most damage. Not that I usually condone this type of thing... I want to do it because I have never built a computer before, and just because I can.
I'm hoping for cash for my i7 build for Christmas,I'm saving now and really want a better computer,but Mac is not coming anytime soon,then it hit me,I'm building a i7 pc of equal specs to a Mac Pro,it's hackintosh time!!

Will it be a cinema display with receiver?
Id love to see a new standard for "HD". 1440p would be nice...but current media would have to catch up. That said, I dont think Apple could make a cost effective television. Sorry, but theyd sell a 42inch TV for 2000.000 easy.

That would be a problem for the iPod touch apps that tell you the secret for doing a magic trick. More seriously, there are a lot of apps you might use on a vacation, e.g. finding restaurants or transportation or people in another city. It wouldn't be fair to their developers if you could buy their app, take it on vacation, then return it when you get home in a week or two.
Perhaps return policies should be based on how many times you launch the app, not on elapsed time. You could return any unused or one-launched app for a full refund within a certain number of days, assuming the iPod touch could keep track of that.

Paying less is not good. If you are a true Apple believer, you want to pay as much as possible so you can high five when Apple has record profits. It's not about the consumer, it's what's best for Apple.
Wow some people here are incredibly close minded. Nothing comes good out of being dedicated to one brand, nothing. You don't get any perks from the company, you lose out on possible better competitor products, you lose money, you lose out on knowledge of other products, etc.
Furthermore you are dedicated to a brand that is currently one of the most unethical companies out there, the only other company that compares is Sony. Don't get me wrong, I love the iPod line and I love the iTunes software (even if its bloated, management is 2nd to none for music), but the company does some shady things to save a few bucks, and go to great lengths to give the brand a positive name in the media (which includes banning certain individuals from their events if their reviews aren't what apple likes..iLounge 3rd generation shuffle for instance).
BTW, Apple's primary profits come from hardware not the music store.
I hate how slow Apple's servers on iTunes have been for the last couple years, definitely gonna have a look into amazon's store.

Both OS X and Chrome OS (and Android, and iOS) borrow heavily from others, either through acquisitions or from the open source community. To claim Google is any inferior here is just trying to stir the pot, especially calling the poster Troll, that is just insulting and uncalled for.
Both companies deserve props from providing the software they do, neither deserves scorn that some posters here like to dish out.

I agree more vertical space and matte option. I'm really not a fan of these cinema screens. I find them annoying when just plain web surfing. I'd rather buy a old used 24" iMac with a matte screen. Come on Apple I've got $1,800 ready for you don't let me down.
I love the larger screens, You do realise you can resize your browser window so its the size of the 24inch screen, the 27 inch has higher resolution when you resize the window to 24 inch it will be the same reslution as it would be on the 24 inch and the same size!
I don't understand why so many complain that the 27 inch is so big when resizing is so simple. I can have 2 things open side by side!
I think Matte would be good, but you can just go buy a film and apply it quite easily so thats not a show stopper for me, however I have read it can lose some clarity so a factory applied option would be better.

in the meantime, i'm thinking about putting a few video cards in my 2006 mac pro to fold with - since it's only getting like 3500 ppd running the smp client. i know i'll have to run windows to do the GPU2 client for now, but it might be worth it.

They show will be on as long as the ratings are up. Maybe Sheen gets killed off when he crashes his car next season and then their long lost brother enters.
