-Checks with all educational institutes mentioned in resume
-Call up references
-Criminal Check.
Now, whom will you hire next time? A Green Card job applicant just supplies a SSN,and a simple criminal check is run against them.They can fake all the degrees and work experience they want.There is no way to verify last salary held by a citizen/GC applicant. Dear all,
Currently working for ABC company with L1B visa, which expiring in Dec 19th 2008 and i am here in USA now along with my dependents.
But this year i got my H1B approval and having my documents, as my filing was done from India, i do not have I-94 at this time.
My quires are.
1. Do i need to go for stamping in Canada or Mexico
2. Can i work for company B with my H1B approval
3. To start my new job, do my employer should change my status
4. If going for stamping do my dependents also should join me.
Actually i have very short time to make my plans , please help in finding solutions for all my quires.

I am not an expert but I would think by the way USCIS works you would be better off (in terms of time) starting a new application than trying to amend an existing EB application with them.

Look no further. EB3 (Other Workers) became "Unavailable" last week and nothing that I read says it cannot happen for EB1/EB2/EB3.

My lawyer sent me the fedex tracking sheet for the I-485 package sent to:

850 S Street
Lincoln, NE 68508
I did not see any PO Box on the Fedex tracking sheet. I am not sure if she put the PO Box on the shipping label or not??
Is it a big deal?? Will my application be accepted.
Please help

By early November, indications were that USCIS demand for India EB-2 visa numbers would place significant pressure on the overall annual limitation, leading to the decision to roll back the priority date for India EB-2 for December 2007 to 01JAN02, and for January 2008 to 01JAN00. Even with those significant retrogressions, USCIS requested almost 300 India EB-2 for December. (As an indication of the rate of demand and how close to the quarterly and annual limits usage is, the USCIS requested three India EB-2 numbers for January, all with dates prior to 01 JAN 00.) There is some possibility that India EB-2 could again become available if it appears that the demand for India EB-1 will not exceed the annual limit, but, that determination will not be able to be made until the second half of the fiscal year.
For China-mainland born EB-2, if demand remains as has been seen over the last couple of months, it is expected that the 01 JAN 03 cut-off date will hold, and it is likely that all numbers will be used within the current cut-off date.

After so much meeting reminder we had encouraging crowd of two people who participated for the meeting. The decision of the meeting was - we will continue with our foolishness of raising the awareness of Senator and Congressmember, call immigration reporter to cover our story.
I still believe and hope some people may join to help themself. Let me be very frank - I or significant others are in this effort as long as our purpose are not met. After that I will probably say good bye and let next generation take the lead.
Please join to help yourself before it is toooo late. There is no doubt that most of us will be in a situation where you lost job, your wife leaves you because she can't work!!, you have emergency in family but you can't go, you have job but can't process your H1B. You want to do something but you know you did not act when time was ripe. Repenting at that time will not fetch you anything and no one will be around you. Today you may find some companionship.
Please come forward. CIR is something which will help you not hurt you. If you want to do things in background that is also fine. You can contact reporter, Senator office and Congress representative office. Once you have a positive lead, let IV take care from there.
Time is NOW or NEVER. CIR Iron rod is getting heated now. Strike it within one month, while it is hot, to give the shape you want to give otherwise it will be cold and you can not do anything but weap and crib.

I have traveled twice on same AP since in last 9 months. Once to canada and the other time to India. The immigration office does not look at anything other than your AP and passport. The most they will ask is what do u do and who applied for your green card.
You do not need to worry about anything and can travel freely.

The Hatch widows bill (which removes the requirement that a couple must have been married for two years before a US citizen dies) passed and included in that bill were provisions extending the religious worker green card program and the Conrad 30 J-1 physician waiver program. Each of these programs were extended for three years. The EB-5 regional center program for immigrant investors was permanently reauthorized by the Senate yesterday. The House must agree to these amendments before they go to the President and I do not yet know whether the bill will go back to the House...
